The Dance Center is proud to partner with Elevate Chicago Dance 2022, produced by the Chicago Dancemakers Forum as part of the Year of Chicago Dance. Artists featured on the Dance Center stage include Ginger Krebs, Hedwig Dances (choreography by Jan Bartoszek), and Donnetta Jackson/ M.A.D.D. Rhythms.I

In Partnership with the Dance Presenting Series and produced by Chicago Dancemakers Forum, Elevate Chicago Dance is a cross town festival of dance made in Chicago. Thirty local dance makers and dance companies will be featured October 13-16 in Elevate Chicago Dance 2022, produced by Chicago Dancemakers Forum as part of the Year of Chicago Dance. The festival will take place across four days in six locations and feature staged works, dance on camera, virtual reality, augmented reality, works-in-progress sharings, installation performance, outdoor experiences, and industry conversations. Featured at the Dance Center are works by:

Ginger Krebs makes performance and sculpture in Chicago. In 2019 she was honored with an Artist Fellowship Award in Performance-Based Arts from the Illinois Arts Council, and residencies at the Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography (MANCC) and the National Center for Choreography – Akron. Her work has been further supported by the MAP Fund, the Chicago Artists Coalition, High Concept Labs, the city of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events, the Ucross Foundation, the MacDowell Colony, Djerassi, and others. Krebs has taught performance at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago since 2004

Hedwig Dances is a contemporary dance theater ensemble celebrating 35 years under the artistic direction of its Founder, Jan Bartoszek. An Artist In-Residence at The Ruth Page Center for the Arts, Hedwig Dances is known for bold, interdisciplinary collaborations combining poetic choreography with sculptural artifacts, projected images and haunting original music. Hedwig Dances distinctively infuses a multicultural blend of dance artistry into its lyrical and poetic performances. Stellar in technique, the dancers’ dynamism is deeply rooted in their rigorous years of training in modern dance and ballet. Individually, their prowess is enhanced by drawing upon rich tapestry of ethnic dance traditions and somatic studies.

Donnetta “LilBit” Jackson is a dynamic and versatile dancer whose skill has brought her international acclaim. She was born and raised on the south side of Chicago, IL, where she began dancing at The Sammy Dyer School of the Theatre at the age of 7. At 11 years old, she became one of the original members of the prestigious M.A.D.D. Rhythms tap company. She later joined the Chicago footwork group Creation Battle Clique/Creation Global, which led her to join internationally recognized dance ensemble the Chicago FootworKINGz. Donnetta has performed with Chance The Rapper and Missy Elliot, has appeared on Season 6 of America’s Best Dance Crew, Good Morning America, the 2020 NBA All Star Game, Rolling Out Loud, and the MTV Video Music Awards,
